"Out of the Box"

Puppet Tour 2008

"Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.  Instead, fix your attention on God.  You'll be changed from the inside out."
The Message
Romans 12:2

The 2008 puppet tour was nothing if not a test of endurance to serve God with zeal.  With 13 performances in 8 days and audiences that totaled over 1100, PFC took on the challenge to set a new record of witnessing through our talents and our creative ministry.  It was a race we think we finished with a "well done good and faithful servant".

Our first stop was at a small, but spirit-filled, church in Blountstown, Fl. at the big bend of the Panhandle.  The church was overflowing with the gift of hospitality.

In New Orleans we were able to bring God's word to those that had been hit hard by Hurricane Katrina.  Slidell United Methodist had been completely destroyed by the storm and it was a pleasure to bring a little laughter into their newly rebuilt fellowship building. In return we were treated to a wonderful dinner of Jambalaya.  We were also able to meet and perform for some teen mission groups staying nearby that invited us to Colorado...something we may seriously consider.

In addition to the three churches we performed for in New Orleans we had the honor of bringing the joy of God's love and word to over 700 children of 4 summer camp programs and particularly children in the inner city of New Orleans.  God is good!

We made a stop in Mobile, Alabama to see the kids of the United Methodist Inner-City Mission and leave our gift of puppets made by several women of Van Dyke especially for them.  We also laid a little puppet ministry on the children's summer dayschool of Dauphin Way United Methodist who gave us shelter for the evening.

Our final stop was Panama City and a short stay at the beach and quick trip to the surf shop.  We visited the kids of the Anchorage Childrens Home on Saturday night and left Panama City with a finale of two children's church performances for
Lynn Haven United Methodist.  "You have an amazing ministry," said the Director of Children's Ministry at Lynn Haven, "People were leaving the sanctuary to see you perform.  Everyone was talking about it."

God has blessed this ministry with amazing talents and a willingness to serve him.  We give thanks to HIM for our safe travels,  the myriad of people he placed before us, our adult chaperones, Pixie Hensel, Mike Mills, and Steve Bond... and all the teens that made this summer tour one to remember.

When not listening to Christian music,  the Senior High Van listens to Hip Hop and
Techno.  There are about 7 songs in this repertoire.

The Middle School, when not listening to Christian music while on the move, leans to the more sophisticated sounds of Jack Johnson, Coldplay and legends like Queen, Heart, Led Zeppelin, Elton John and, of course The Beatles...even requested Van Morrison.  It is clear that the Middle Schoolers have it all over the Senior High in taste.

Last day and still ready and willing...that's our team

We leave them a little something to remember us by
