Second Saturday Serve - Van Dyke Church

Second Saturday serve is a day when Van Dykers have the opportunity to be Jesus with skin. We serve the chronically ill, the elderly, single mothers, and many more with home chores and yard maintenance. We also help non-profits and local ministries serving meals and painting living quarters.

Serve teams are organized each month. They meet at the west end of the parking lot near the storage sheds at 8:15 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month. You will meet the team leader who will provide you with driving directions to the site and instruct you on what supplies/tools to gather from the shed. The teams usually serve about 4 hours.

Saturday, July 12th - We are growing a team of Van Dyker's who enjoy interior painting. We will be painting the Childcare Food Program Wind at Cornerstone Family Ministries.

Saturday, January 12th - Served Ms. Bonnie, an elderly Van Dyker, who needed help cutting her lawn, trimming limbs, and raking leaves. Praise God for the hardworking team who served and lifted Ms. Bonnie's spirits.

Saturday, February 9th - Helped an 82 year young lady avoid a City code violation on her home. We had a team to blow leaves off her roof and power wash her mobil home. Praise God for the efforts of the fun team who shined their light of Jesus for the whole street to see.

Saturday, March 8th - Join the Men's Minstry as they serve at Hope Children's Home (HCH). They will be clearing brush off for new roads, sand/paint a Case backhoe and tractor, and pour two concrete slabs. Praise God for weaving the hearts together of those who served at HCH and showing the children they are loved and cared for.

Saturday, April 12th - Join a team of 20 who will travel to Enterprise, Florida to celebrate the 100th anniversary of serving children at the Florida United Methodist Children's Home. Stay tuned to the Weekly bulletin for details and sign-up. Praise God for the team of Van Dykers who traveled to Enterprise, FL and supported the UMC Children's Home celebration.

"Walk for Life" and serve at House of Hope. Praise God for the many Van Dykers who responded to the Holy Spirit's prompting and served. Many helped at the House of Hope preparing their building for their Grand Opening, which was on Friday, May 16th. There was also a wonderful team of walkers who supported the "Walk for Life".

Saturday, June 14th - Praise God for the team of Van Dykers who got their hands dirty in the name of Jesus. Thank you to the team of 22 servants who helped a single chronically ill mom clean up yard debris, trim trees, and plant a garden. A special thank you to Harry Fukatani and Shawn Green who installed drywall in the bedroom and bath.
