2007 Completed Mission Trips

Living in Faith - January 10 - 21, 2007
The team traveled to Guantanamo to install a water purification system, distribute eyeglasses, and share evangelism material.  For a country that is so deprived in many of the amenities we take for granted, the people of Cuba are on fire for the Lord.  What a blessing it is to do missionary work in Cuba.

Living in Faith - February 16 - 25, 2007  "Extreme Makeover Haiti Edition"
The team transformed an old clinic into two pastoral homes.  This will provide housing for the pastor's assistants, so spiritual growth can advance at Double Harvest.  A team of  carpenters, cabinetmakers, plumbers, electricians, and handymen all shared their skills and their love for Jesus with the Double Harvest Ministry.

Living in Faith - March 14 - 23, 2007
Russ Montgomery led a team to Pinar del Rio a city in Cuba to install a water purification system, distribute eyeglasses, and share evangelistic material.  Those who longed to read the Bible were so excited to receive their reading glasses.  The major work project was to install a water purification system at the Baptist Seminary in Pinar del Rio.

Living in Faith - April 12 - 16, 2007
The team conducted eyeglass exams to village people who came to the Double Harvest Ministry for food and medical care.

Missionary Ventures - April 15 - 21, 2007
Larry Randolph joined a team of 14 individuals who had the same calling from the Holy Spirit to serve in a small village called San Lucas.  The village is about two hours away from Guatemala City and struggles with providing villagers with clean water, food, medical, and spiritual care.  One goal was to install the wiring, electrical, and insulation for the second floor of the mission house.  The entire mission house was built and funded by US mission teams.  It has taken one year to complete this project.  The mission house provides the village with much needed physical and spiritual care.  Many times this is the only meal the village children receive.  Even though the villagers do not have much, many are open to receive the love of Jesus and find hope in salvation.

Living in Faith  April 21 - 30, 2007
Russ Montgomery taught Ancient Paths in San Antonio del Sur, Cuba.  The program turned many hearts to the love of Jesus.  The team traveled to several different locations distributing eyeglasses, medicines, and speaking in churches.

The Sickmon Family  June 6 - 12, 2007
Paul, Deborah, Knox, and Savannah traveled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras.   They served the local villagers by helping build a care facility for children with HIV/AIDS.  The founder of the home is an American woman who discoverd that children with AIDS in this community had a hard time surviving.  Because of this, she founded "Walking with Children".  You can read more of her moving story at www.walkingwithchildren.org.  Weeks before their trip, Paul rounded up new equipment and youth soccor uniforms from distributors and a high school to provide for 26 teams.  Van Dykers helped supply youth soccer shoes and equipment.  The Lord used this family in a big way to show the love of Jesus.  The expressions of love and hope on the faces of the little children were the real blessing the family received back.

Van Dyke Mexico Missions Trip - June 23 - July 2, 2007
Our very own high schoolers traveled to Ensenada, Mexico.  Led by our youth pastor, there was a  total of 30 youth and adults who served the community in three ways.  A group of 7 took the gospel to rural villages and performed various stories.  One group of 14 helped build a community building and another group conducted VBS for the local children.  The light of the Lord shined through our youth to impact many hearts and souls of Ensenada, Mexico.
