Second Saturday Serve

alt

Second Saturday Serve  is all about serving the community and sharing the love of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Once a month, teams are sent out to "approved” project sites to help individuals or nonprofits.
For example, we have helped many elderly and chronically ill individuals with yard work, we have painted homes, power washed churches, built wheelchair ramps, and much more.  Check us out one Saturday
and join the fun.

Current Serve
September 11 - Remembering our local rescue workers, firefighters and police by delivering  bakery items and thank you cards to all the area stations.  Stay tuned to the bulletin for sign ups!

Upcoming Serves

October 9 - Operation Christmas Child Community Packing Party
November 13 - To be determined
December 11 - pushed back to December 18 - Holiday Tent Metropolitan Ministries

So far this year, we have served:

August 14th
This was a double serve day!  Teams went to both the Pasco girls and the Riverview boys prison to cook 64 youth a pancake breakfast and offer them lots of smiles and hope for their future.  We serve at the girls Pasco prison every second Saturday and the boys everyother month on the second Saturday.

July 10th
Blessed are those who serve!  We helped Amazing Love Ministries sort through clothing and toy donations.  They will be opening their facility to area residents, offering pantry items, clothing, and toys to the needy.
Another team of 10 women went to the Pasco Girls Academy and cooked them a pancake breakfast.  Way to be the body of Christ reaching out  with love, hope, and a caring smile.

June 12th
Wow the Holy Spirit was moving hearts - we served at three locations on Saturday.  The first serve site was serving breakfast for 35 boys at the Riverview Academy.  The second serve site was the Pasco Girls Academy.  Both are incarceration units for youth between the ages of 8 and 18.  Many of these boys and girls are victims of trauma and/or abuse and have made poor decisions.  As followers of Jesus, we are called to speak value into these youth and offer them unconditional love and hope for their future.  The third site was at Metropolitan Ministries; the team laid sod in Morgans Park.   What an awesome way to show the homeless they are loved, prayed for, and not forgotten.

May 8th
A  team of women partnered with Juveniles for Jesus and made breakfast for 24 girls at the Pasco Girls Academy facility.  These girls are between the ages of 8 and 18 and are currently serving a 2 year sentence for making poor choices.  They all have experienced trauma and/or abuse and have had to deal with so much pain in their short lives.  They were so appreciative of us taking time to cook breakfast for them and spending time telling them their lives have value and that they have a Heavenly Father who offers unconditional love.  It was a very emotionally moving morning.  We plan to serve their once a month.

April 10th
A team of servants cooked a pancake, egg, and bacon breakfast for the boys at Riverside Academy.   We partnered with our Ministry Partner, Juveniles for Jesus, whose mission it is to reach out to youth who are serving a 2 year incarceration sentence.  Many of these youth are victims themselves and need to hear there is another way that they do have value, and there is a heavenly Father who offers unconditional love.   The Holy Spirit was working strongly through the servants that morning and many seeds were planted.  We will be visiting again real soon.

February 13th
We loved-up on our neighbours at 3 local nursing homes.  We took Valentine cupcakes, cookies, and cards to share.  We met some lovely friends who shared their life stories with us, we played bingo, painted nails, and made crafts.  Thank you Lord for this time together.  I know many of us thought we were going to these facilities to bless the residents, but once again we, the servants were the ones who were blessed.

January 9th
We helped Metropolitan Ministries take down their Holiday tent.  We praise the Holy Spirit for prompting a team of adults who bundled up (it was 34 degrees and raining) and loaded wood on pallets and then into their storage units.  We had fun driving a floor dolly and were grateful for a few good strong men (Dan Boyer's sons) who selflessly gave of their time and strong backs.
