Cornerstone Family Ministries
This is a non-profit, faith based ecumenical organization committed to making lasting, positive changes in the local communities by improving the social, physical, spiritual, and economic aspects of family life. Disaster Response/CERF
This is a team of individuals from local churches who have been led by the Holy Spirit to serve in times of disasters. We partner with the Methodist Conference to send teams to disaster sites offering humanitarian efforts ranging from removing debris from hurricanes to rebuilding homes after floods. We serve under the direction of FEMA and County authorities. Training is required and offered through the conference in order to serve in disaster areas. To get involved, watch for announcements in the church bulletin and check the serve opportunities website when you hear of a natural disaster to learn specific information about any upcoming trips.. Habitat for Humanity
Reaches out to low income families and provides an interactive program for home ownership. Opportunities to serve consist of helping with actual construction, working in the surplus store and office, and participating in recycling projects (extracting material from homes to be demolished). Hillsborough House of Hope
This is a Christian residential program that serves women coming from the Hillsborough County jail system, who have already demonstrated a desire to lead productive lives. Working through volunteers and partnering agencies, they offer women leaving the prison system a bus pass, a Bible, and a personal plan including agencies and additional resources to assist them in making a successful re-entry into society. Hope Children’s Home
They have rescued nearly 5,000 children between the ages of 2 to 18. Most of these children have been discarded, abused, unwanted or orphaned. The purpose of the home is to provide a safe, nurturing, and loving environment. A Christian School is also part of the service offered. The home and school is located on 45 acres only 7 miles from Van Dyke and has many opportunities to serve, including helping campus teachers to helping maintain the grounds and buildings. Juveniles for Jesus Ministry (JFJ)
Ministers to incarcerated children. There are 4 facilities within 25 miles of Van Dyke that house over 400 children ages 8 to 16 who are serving at least a 2 year sentence. In many cases, the children themselves are victims of abuse and abandonment. JFJ brings hope to these children by offering weekly Bible Studies, warm meals, Christmas dinner, and simply the love and compassion from an adult who has been led by the Holy Spirit to serve. Judeo Christian Clinic
Provides free quality, timely, and compassionate health care to thousands in the Tampa area who have no health insurance or funds to pay a private doctor. They are always in need of medical professionals to donate their services. Metropolitan Ministries
Providing answers for poor and homeless families faithfully. This ministry offers year round opportunities to serve from serving meals, providing adult life skill classes, serve in the Thrift Store, offer administration support, and ministry awareness. New Frontiers Health Force
This is a ministry devoted to offering primary health care locally and internationally. The local outreach teams serve communities in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. Prison Ministry
P.R.O.P. (Pre-Release Orientation Program) is a program designed to help offenders re-integrate into society. Facilitators needed for this 16 to 40 hour seminar currently offered at Sumter Correctional Facility and through Abe Brown Ministires. Transformation begins when positive life skills are taught including how to seek employment, handle anger, manage money, etc.
Kairos Prison Ministry is a program geared to help existing Christian inmates become stronger in their faith and become a stronger witness within the prison community. Inmates of all religious backgrounds are welcome. This event is offered twice a year and lasts four days.

Pyramid, Inc.
Serving the Tampa Bay community of adults with disabilities. This day care facility offers a nurturing environment filled with various therapies for specific disabilites. In additon to smiles, hope and encourgement their staff offers music, art and dance. Volunteers are needed in many areas to assist staff with daily functions and speical events. This ministry caters to the migrant community that works behind the scenes at Tampa Bay Downs. Many are seasonal workers who leave their families behind to earn a living. Tampa Bay Harvest
This is a non-profit organization which is primarily a transportation network. They recruit and organize volunteers to link suppliers who have leftover food to nearby agencies which can best utilize the donation. Van Dyke QuiltersThey meet the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursday of the month to create crib quilts for newborn babies in intensive care. This group of loving hands sews 30 quilts a month. They are prayed over and then delivered to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. This friendly group is always in need of helping hands along with quilt fabric donations.

Florida United Methodist Children's Home
The Home is located in
Enterprise,
Florida (near
Orlando). The Children's Home reaches kids in the state of
Florida who have experienced abuse, abandonment or family breakdown due to divorce, drug abuse, illness or death of a parent. The ages of the children accepted into residential care are from 5-18 years of age.
Opportunities to serve include: placing envelopes in the pews on Thursdays before each 5th Sunday at Van Dyke. At the home, you can help in the following areas: coordinate special events, greet/host guests during visitor weekends, decorate grounds at Christmas, drive tram, assist in commissary or help maintain the rose garden.
